Bilingual bags now available
in five different languages
Anchorage Public Library has created a new resource for
families and educators to use In its continuing support of early learning
among culturally diverse children. The library has bilingual Bags which
include books, audio materials and other teaching aids in Filipino, Hmong,
Russian and Samoan. There are two different
bags available in Spanish.
"The importance of early learning to a child's lifelong success
has been proved in studies over and over again," said Sherri Douglas,
APL Youth Services Coordinator. "In this community, where so many
languages are spoken, it is important to have bilingual resources available
so all parents can start reading to their children at a very early age."
Ask a librarian for assistance when looking for the Bilingual Bags, which
are stored at Loussac Library or go online to place a hold on a bag for
pickup at your local branch.
